Note from the Principal...
It was reported to me that in one of our elementary classrooms, the young student related a tragic event in his life. To that, the teacher responded that she knew and was praying for him. Following her remark another child spoke that his family was praying also, as did several other students.
It really touched my heart to hear such a sweet expression of God’s love so clearly expressed by his children. That is just one of the reasons Grove City Christian is such a great place for children to grow and learn together.
“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
John 13:35

BOXTOP FOR EDUCATION
Welcome all new and returning students to a great year at GCCS! Our school currently participates in the Box Tops for Education, Campbell’s labels, and the Tyson A+ program. Last year the school earned $3155.00 from Box Tops for Education. The school is currently ranked 45 out of 4,377 schools within Ohio and 1,032 out of 100,178 schools within the United States. Our school also collects pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and has also collected over 313 lbs of pop tabs over the past two years.
There are two Box Tops contests held throughout the school year between K – 6th grade. The first contest is currently underway. The winning class from each contest will earn a pizza party for the whole class and the teacher will receive a $30.00 gift certificate. For each trimmed Box Tops the class will earn 1 ½ points and the untrimmed will only receive 1 point. These programs would not be this successful without your help. FROM THE NURSE
Parents/Guardians,
I hope you are having a very healthy start to the new school year. As the nurse here at GCCS, I feel it is my responsibility to attempt to keep all the students healthy and safe. With the beginning of fall and winter upon us, I am very alert to the threat of illness, especially influenza, and the H1N1 virus. State and Federal Health officials predict a rise of the H1N1 virus in the coming months. So I wanted to send this reminder to parents in an attempt to protect all the students.
If your child is displaying any flu-like symptoms such as fever, vomiting, cough, sore throat, congestion, body aches, and fatigue, please do not send them to school. I know at times this may be difficult; however it is very important that this school policy is followed by everyone. Also, students who have been sent home with any illness may not return to school until they have been symptom free for 24 hours. Students with fever should be fever free without the use of medication before returning to school.
While at school, students are being reminded frequently to practice good hand washing, and teachers are doing a great job, watching for any signs of illness in the classroom, and disinfecting frequently. When we all work together, we have a greater chance of keeping our school safe and healthy for all. I appreciate your help and cooperation in this matter.
Again please remember:
Do not send your child to school if they have had flu-like symptoms any time in the past 24 hours. Also, if your child is sent home, keep them home until they have been symptom free for the full 24hours.
Thank you so much.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call me at 875-3000.

Student photos are coming back to the site.
Soon we'll be enabling parents to come to the site, and log in (with your email address and a self-selected password) to gain access to the event photos from the year. We'll be using the email address that you (as a GCCS parent) use to register with RenWeb.
We'll start with 2009-2010 photos, and after the bugs get worked out, we'll make every effort to load in the previous years photos.
Why are we doing this?
We're always cognizant of the safety of our students. When you realize that in a 10 mile radius of the school, we have 90 registered sex offenders (source: www.eSORN.ag.state.oh.us), it becomes important to take every step possible to prevent someone from easily stalking our children. As if that weren't enough reason, there are many cases in which there may be discord in non-custodial parents, and again, our role should be to protect the privacy of our student body.
We do hope that you support our motives, and look forward to rolling out this new functionality to the site. |
