Purpose of Grove City Christian Athletics

Sports are a vessel to provide students with the opportunity to shine God’s glory through their actions. “Since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith,” Hebrews 12:1-2. We must stress the importance of Colossians 3:23, “In everything you do, do with all your heart.”

Grove City Christian believes that all athletes involved in athletics must be given the attention and time necessary to develop the skills of their sport. We know that the focus of an athletic program cannot be on the select few elite players on the team. We believe that an athletic program should not be so narrowly focused on winning that the educational values of the athletic program are lost. Grove City Christian coaches strive to develop in each athlete a strong work ethic, commitment, and athletic skills within all student-athletes.

At Grove City Christian we believe that no student should have to check their talents at the door for a private education. We offer many sports at the middle and high school levels. Currently our athletic opportunities include baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, track & field and volleyball .

At Grove City Christian we respect the role of sports in the life of a student-athlete and the commitment they have to their family outside of athletics. A student athlete must learn to balance and prioritize keeping God first, followed by family, academics, and then athletics. It is our hope that all athletes will successfully maintain this balance giving a whole hearted effort in all that they do.
